Ever since 'Fast and Furious 7' was first announced, there have been rumours that it would be the first part in what could be considered a third 'Fast and Furious' trilogy. That means that fans can buckle up for three more 'Fast and Furious' films before the franchise potentially finishes in 'Fast and Furious 9'.
But then came the tragic death of Paul Walker in a car crash midway through filming 'Fast and Furious 7', and suddenly the future of the franchise was put in jeopardy. There has recently been one report that 'Fast and Furious 7' may actually be the last film in the franchise. However, even without the star power and fan love of Paul Walker to ensure the franchise stays afloat, here are three reasons there will definitely be a 'Fast and Furious 8'.
Characters
As much as fans love Paul Walker and his character Brian, there are plenty of other much beloved characters to take the story forward. Vin Diesel, Tyrese Gibson, Ludacris, Dwayne Johnson, Michelle Rodriguez and newcomers Kurt Russell and Jason Statham are all in 'Fast and Furious 7' making it one of the most jam packed casts in recent memory. Even without Brian, the adventures of Dom and Letty could go on for a few more films, particularly if they keep adding such quality stars to the ever expanding cast.
Brian
The producers of 'Fast and Furious 7' have spent a considerable sum of money completing the film after Walker's death. Paul's brothers Cody and Caleb were drafted in, and the decision was reportedly made to have Brian retire rather than being killed off. Now that 'Fast and Furious 7' will be about Brian's retirement from the 'family', there are plenty of directions that the next instalment can take. 'Fast 7' may be a tribute to Paul Walker, but the franchise is likely to come out stronger on the other side.
Money
Let's not forget that 'Fast and Furious 7' is a commercial product made by Universal Studios in order to incur a huge profit. 'Fast and Furious 6' was the biggest earner of the entire franchise so far and the next instalment is likely to be even bigger. With many of the fans of the franchise thinking that the films are getting better and better, business is bound to be good. Add to that, the morbid fascination that people will have with seeing Paul Walker's final performance, and 'Fast and Furious 7' is guaranteed to do better at the box office than any of its predecessors. With huge profits come greater pressure for a sequel, and Universal will likely be far from furious as they speed the next film into production.
